my Fab story
When it’s your passion it’s not a job. My name is Brittney Scates and I’m a business graduate from The LeMoyne Owen college. I attended cosmetology courses in high school where I discovered making women feel good about their appearance was my favorite passion. I would go on to work at a salon by my 11th grade year where I received most of my experience. I did most of my friends' and family's hair for a small fee and would build clientele from there. My mom would go on to get my first set of business cards for me. She also passes my cards out to assist me in receiving new clients.
In 2015 I attended Tennessee of Applied Technology. There I received my master barber license and would go on to working from a salon in my home. I started experimenting with organic skin and hair products in my kitchen after work hours not knowing I would discover a new passion. I started researching about skincare and since I was already experienced with hair, it went hand and hand. The knowledge I attained in my research allowed me to be able to better inform others about healthy scalp conditions and in turn mix ingredients up that would soothe and in most cases, cure eczema and psoriasis.
Once I felt confident in my skincare crafts I started purchasing jars and containers to start my hair and skincare line. I had to learn how to keep track of all of my inventory since I now sold hair bundles, skin, and hair products, and also would maintain my clients in between. I would work late hours but was determined to make a living for myself, determined to create generational wealth for my daughter Khloe Scates. Five years later, my beloved aunt and uncle would go on to invest in me. That allowed me to open my first salon in February of 2020. They say the light at the end of the tunnel is for you and no one else; I have just begun. I am for skin and hair like yours.
